Summer meadow hay On summer meadows in the Emmental region, it was kissed dry by the sun. Hand-packed, it releases its wonderful aroma upon opening. Our hay has been aerated and is therefore considered low-dust. We deliberately avoid the generally popular “lush green hay”. Why? Quite simply, this hay contains a denser concentration of calcium as well as a high protein content (which, over a longer period, creates unsightly rolls of fat); this "end cut" is normally stored for livestock farming as winter feed because of its increased energy content. Our hay is long-fibered, dandelion-free , and therefore suitable for a low-calcium diet. Thanks to the long grass fibers, it promotes tooth wear, and with its variety of grass species, it offers a tasty alternative to the rather boring timothy hay. Please bear in mind that our hay may contain natural elements such as leaves, twigs, and even hay moths, etc. (Any healthy hay that is not dried with high heat and thus loses almost all vitamins and nutrients is a suitable habitat for microorganisms; only "dead hay" does not contain them.)
