Our idea grew out of a love of animals and our own experience. Finding a varied selection of suitable fresh greens takes time and isn’t always easy. We do that work for you.

We choose our products carefully, paying close attention to freshness and quality. Our goal is to offer you as much of our full range as possible all year round. That way, you get a natural and varied selection, conveniently delivered to your door.

About Me

I'm Marina – founder, owner and all-rounder at Grünfutter.

Animals have been part of my life for a long time and are a natural part of my everyday routine. I currently share my home with 15 guinea pigs, five dwarf rabbits and six cats – so things never get boring around here.

The idea for Grünfutter came about when I started looking more closely into species-appropriate nutrition for rabbits on Facebook. There I came across several providers in Germany who deliver fresh, varied greens straight to pet owners' homes. I loved the concept and asked myself: why isn't there anything like this here in Switzerland?

With a great deal of passion and commitment, this idea became Grünfutter. Today, I take care of almost everything: I look after our customers, organise purchasing and, together with my wonderful team, pack the boxes personally. My husband gives me fantastic support with accounting and HR administration.

I love animals and I'm committed, spontaneous and always up for an adventure. Sometimes I'm a bit of a perfectionist, sometimes a little chaotic – but always wholehearted. And that's exactly what goes into every Grünfutter box.

For us, "regional" is more than just a nice word.

A large part of our fresh food grows just a few kilometres from Grünfutter – in the fields of producers we know personally and work closely with.

We don't just buy our vegetables anywhere. Many crops are grown specifically for us, with quantities and varieties planned together and continuously coordinated throughout the season. This keeps the journey short – from the field to us, and from us on to your animals.

Some of our producers have been with Grünfutter since it was founded. One of them is even family.

Huber Gemüse in Sünikon is much more than a supplier to me: the business belongs to my brother, and Grünfutter itself is integrated into this vegetable farm.

This lets us make use of something incredibly valuable: the synergies between professional, large-scale vegetable growing and Grünfutter. We plan together what will be of particular interest to our customers, and some crops are grown specifically for us.

The vegetables and lettuce practically grow right on our doorstep. "Short distances" takes on a whole new meaning here: from the field to Grünfutter, it's sometimes just a few minutes.

For me, this partnership is something very special – family-like, uncomplicated and closely connected.

Nager's Wiesenbackstube

By animal lovers, for animal lovers

With Nager's Wiesenbackstube, our collaboration starts at a completely different point – but with the same passion for feeding our animals as naturally as possible.

The person behind Nager's Wiesenbackstube is Manuela Schläfli. In her small manufactory, she creates species-appropriate food mixes, treats and special natural products for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, degus, hamsters, mice and other small furry friends. Manuela relies on natural, fresh ingredients and, wherever possible, uses produce she grows herself or at least sources from Switzerland.

What's particularly lovely is that our two businesses will be working even more closely together in future: Nager's Wiesenbackstube will remain an independent company, while Grünfutter takes over order processing and shipping.

This allows Manuela to focus even more on what she does best: her field crops, the harvest and new creations from the Wiesenbackstube.

Our producers are not anonymous suppliers to Grünfutter.

We know the farms, are in direct contact with them and know where a large part of our food grows. Some crops are grown specifically for us, and in some cases we use plant parts such as fennel or celery greens, which are especially valuable for our animals.

And that's exactly what we want to keep doing in the future.

Our range is allowed to change with the seasons. At times there may be plenty of one thing and, for a while, none at all of another. Because behind every bunch of parsley, every sugarloaf chicory and every bunch of fennel greens there is a field, a season, the weather – and people who work for it every day.

That, for us, is real Grünfutter.
